I’m a dermatologist, the viral TikTok skincare trends to ditch in 2023 – and which ones you should keep… – The US Sun

A DERMATOLOGIST has shared the viral TikTok skincare trends to ditch in 2023 – and which ones you should keep.
Dr Lindsey shared with her followers the four things they should not do going into the new year. She told them to continue with four more regimes.
The TikToker, known as @dermduru, kicks off her video by telling viewers to ditch at home microneedling, hyaluron pens, microneedling make up and sunscreen contouring.
She tells them to keep slugging, skin barrier health, fermented skincare and skin cycling.
A microneedling pen, which is a device with lots of tiny sterilised needles, pricks the skin, causing your body to create healthy new collagen and elastin to rejuvenate.
A Hyaluron pen is an at-home lip filler.
Sunscreen contouring involves using different SPFs to highlight certain sections of your face.
In terms of those to keep, slugging is using a petroleum-based product overnight.
Your skin barrier is its top layer and needs looking after as part of skin barrier health.
Dr Madhuri Agarwal told Vogue fermented skincare is "a process that employs microorganisms like yeast or bacteria to break down the skincare ingredients into smaller…sizes so that they penetrate deeper and are absorbed better."
Skin cycling is making sure you have rest days with products.
Dr Lindsey MD regularly shares handy tips with her followers to keep their skincare regime up to date.
In September The US Sun reported on she protects her skin by following an easy anti-aging routine.
She stressed how much she loves 'skin cycling' and says that we all need to follow it.
Dr Lindsey then reveals that there are warning signs if you love using exfoliants and retinoids all the time.
She says: "They're good for your skins quality and texture, but if you over use them it can cause harm to the skin barrier so you have to take breaks."
In May last year Dr Lindsey told parents the products she uses on her baby.
She called it: “The Trifecta.”
The first item on the list came from the brand Free & Clear. She held up a shampoo bottle and a liquid cleanser – which each cost around $12.
Next up was CeraVe’s Baby Wash & Shampoo – which costs around $11 on Amazon.
And her final favorite was Cetaphil Baby’s Wash & Shampoo for the face and body, and Cetaphil Baby’s Gentle Wash for the body – both of which are under $10.
