Plastic surgeon, Dr. Katherine Roxanne Grawe, better known as Dr. Roxy on TikTok has her medical license suspended after being accused of botching procedures and live streaming surgical and cosmetic procedures.
In documents released by the State Medical Board of Ohio, Dr. Grawe is accused of multiple grievances including but not limited to,
Failed to provide or failed to document written discharge instructions concerning specific information about lidocaine toxicity.
Engaging in liposuction on a patient while looking at the camera and speaking to the camera.

The State Medical Board of Ohio voted on November 18th to issue a notice of suspension to Dr. Grawe – which means she cannot practice medicine or surgery in Ohio. A formal hearing will be conducted on May 15th, 2023, and continue through May 19th according to a medical board spokesperson. A hearing examiner will hear all facts of the case and make their recommendation to the medical board. Then, after a public meeting – the full medical board will discuss the recommendation and make a final decision.
According to reports, the board sent an initial warning letter on October 9th, 2018, ‘regarding the need to maintain patient privacy when sharing photos or video via social media’. Another warning was sent on September 28th, 2021, again concerned for patient privacy and ethics directly related to her social media use. Dr. Grawe completed education courses in professionalism, and ethics, as well as retrained in specific procedures. She was asked to provide certificates of completion of the courses and include summaries about what she learned and how she could apply it to future patients.
The board alleges that Dr. Grawe continued to film and broadcast live the medical procedures of some patients – including live streaming a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) on an unidentified patient. According to the official paperwork from the State Medical Board of Ohio, Dr. Grawe “continued to video produce and live broadcast medical procedures of some patients, at least through on or October 14, 2022. Aspects of these productions include, but are not limited to, pre-operative photos, pre-operative interviews with patients about their bodies, live-streams of their procedures, post-operative still images of patients taken in the operating room, and the cost of the procedure. During some videos/live-streams you engage in dialogue to respond to viewers’ online questions while the surgical procedure remains actively ongoing.”
Beyond the medical license suspension, there are three active lawsuits against Dr. Grawe by former patients. It is unknown if they are the patients mentioned by the medical board but it can be deferred that there is a high likelihood based on their surgical procedures.
Patient received a BBL and claims she did not receive proper postoperative care instructions. The patient suffered severe cramping, abdominal pain, and dark urine. The patient was allegedly told not to seek medical care.
A surgically implanted drain was not functioning properly postoperatively and was advised not to go to the hospital. The patient ended up with severe complications and missed work for two months. The patient still cannot properly stand due to complications with the drains.
The patient received an unknown procedure but was not given written discharge instructions on managing pain and other complications. The patient went to the ER five days postoperatively and was found to have free air in the abdomen and in liver failure. According to her website, Dr. Roxanne Grawe is a Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon in Powell, Ohio. Her practice, ROXY Plastic Surgery, specializes in cosmetic surgery of the face, breast, and body. Dr. Grawe completed her undergraduate degree at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, and then attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Her plastic surgery training was completed at Ohio State University Medical Center. Her website claims she has performed over 3,621 surgeries over 12 years.
Dr. Roxy’s Instagram, roxyplasticsurgery, has become private since the suspension but she has over 122K followers and over 4,100 Instagram posts. Her TikTok account has also become private but she currently has over 840K followers and 14.6 million likes.
Dr. Grawe and her lawyer have not publicly made a statement regarding the ongoing case and license suspension.
