All homes have a smell. But if you’ve found yourself wishing that your home smelled… better, you’re not alone. But what’s the best way to introduce some better scents to your living space? Unsurprisingly, TikTok has some ideas.

TikTok user Chantel Mila (@mama_mila_) recently shared a video featuring three of her top hacks for making your home smell better without breaking the bank.
Firstly, Mila recommends vacuuming your air conditioner filters. Once that’s done, add essential oils to ensure that hidden fragrances are wafting around your place at all times.
Next, place coffee beans in a bowl with a tea light. Regardless of whether or not you’re a coffee drinker, the candle heats the coffee, filling your home with the delicious smell of coffee and whatever fragrance your candle is emitting.
Finally, Mila suggests mixing a cup of water, a tablespoon of rubbing alcohol, and a tablespoon of an essential oil to create your very own air freshener. Easy peasy!
Clearly, plenty of people are listening to these home hacks. In just five days, the video racked up over 21,300 likes and 353,400 views. However, one commenter brought up an important point — if you have pets, make sure to do your research before introducing any essential oils to your space.
“Some are safe but citrus, mints, and tea trees [are toxic] and that’s just dogs,” they pointed out.
