Texas 'Butter King' wins over TikTok with unique popcorn serving style – Chron

Jason Grosboll, an employee from the Corpus Christi Century 16 Theatre is going viral on TikTok for his unique method of serving up popcorn.
A Texas theater employee has won the hearts of millions of TikTok users for his unique method of serving up popcorn. TikTok user Oscar Leal recently visited the Corpus Christi Century 16 Theatre to watch James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water. But what he saw before the film is what stuck with him most.
In a short clip shared by Leal, who goes by @oanderle on TikTok, a theater employee wearing a nametag that reads “Popcorn Guy” is shown spinning popcorn tubs on his thumbs and tossing them in the air as he squirts warm butter over the kernels with ease before he chucks up a peace sign. In the background, Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” plays. The video, captioned “This was totally awesome!” has garnered over 6 million views, over 924,000 likes, and over 21,000 comments since it was first posted on Dec. 26.
“Forget Salt Bae, we have Butter King,” commented one TikTok user. “Whoa… it’s Jason Courne!” wrote another.
The clip also gained the attention of actor Henry Winkler who shared the video on Twitter while wishing the employee a “Happy New Year.” Cinemark Theatres also posted the TikTok on their Instagram page. In the comments of the post, Leal wrote: “He is our hero. Avatar 2 was good too.”

The impressive employee of many titles is actually named Jason Grosboll and has been working at Century Theatres for 10 years, per a report from KIII. Grosboll told the Corpus Christi TV news station that he loves spreading joy to customers by providing entertainment for them before they settle in for their movie. “I love interacting with new customers, seeing the smiles on their faces and joy on them,” said Grosboll. “At first, no one really understood it, but as time passed on, people loved it.”
Grosboll wasn’t aware that the clip of him went viral until one of his friends told him about it. He proceeded to read through the thousands of comments people left for him complimenting his style. “Last night I read about 3 or 4 hours of comments,” he told KIII. “It brought my heart joy to read comments like that.”
Shortly after his clip went viral, Grosboll took to TikTok himself to thank people for their support. “I really appreciate the fact that everyone likes what I do,” he said in the TikTok, in which he proudly showed off his name tag. “I truly love the job and I’m grateful for it.”
