BOUNTIFUL — A 20-year-old woman faces several felony charges for allegedly attacking multiple people with a knife, seriously injuring two of them, after a disagreement over a TikTok video.
Jail records show Mia Ruth Hansen was arrested last week and booked into the Davis County Jail. On the same day, Aug. 3, records filed in 2nd District Court show Hansen was charged with three counts of aggravated assault, second-degree and third-degree felonies; two counts of tampering with a witness, a third-degree felony; obstructing justice, a third-degree felony; and four misdemeanors related to various drug and alcohol charges.
She is currently being held without bail.
On July 30, Hansen was in the parking lot of the Bountiful "B" when she brandished a knife at two female minors during an argument, according to a police booking affidavit. The victims attempted to disarm her, and in the ensuing altercation, multiple people were injured, the arrest report continues.
Bountiful Assistant Police Chief Dave Edwards told KSL-TV that two teenage girls suffered serious injuries including stab wounds and lacerations, and at least four others — including Hansen — suffered minor injuries.
Hansen allegedly met with the victims over a TikTok video she felt was disparaging to her. "Anger over a TikTok video caused ultimately a life-threatening injury," Edwards said.
"We’re very lucky it wasn’t worse," he said.
Witnesses later told police that Hansen told them ahead of time, "I’ll kill those (expletive)," according to the affidavit.
The document also states that after obtaining a search warrant, officers found a variety of items in Hansen’s car, including alcohol, vape cartridges, THC cartridges, a black grinder containing marijuana, a towel with blood on it, a sock with asphalt in it and two knives.
Police later learned during witness interviews that immediately after the altercation, Hansen drove to Farmington Pond and instructed one of the witnesses to throw the knife she had used into a dumpster, which the witness agreed to do, the affidavit states.
Hansen then returned to the dumpster with the witnesses on July 31 to retrieve the knife, the document said. The witnesses told police that Hansen said she soaked the knife in bleach, then placed it in a bag in her trunk.
Police obtained a second search warrant and retrieved the knife, along with two additional pipes containing marijuana, according to the arrest report.
