You can download TikTok videos on your iPhone, Android and even iPad without using third-party apps or extensions. It’s a native feature.
In fact, this is so easy, we will just jump straight into the tutorial itself and talk about the details later. Pick up your iPhone, iPad or Android device and follow the steps exactly as they are shown below.
Step 1. Launch the TikTok app.
Step 2. Find the video which you want to download.
Step 3. Now tap on the Share button as shown in the screenshot below.
Step 4. Find the Save video button and tap on it.
Step 5. Once the video is downloaded, you’ll immediately see a ‘Share to’ box at the bottom Just dismiss it and you’ll see the downloaded video in the Photos app ready to be shared or backed up.
There’s literally nothing else you have to do here. This feature is completely native and does not require you to have third-party extensions or apps installed in order to download videos from TikTok.
Due to its simplicity, you’ll see TikTok videos being shared everywhere. Even on Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, Twitter, Facebook and the list goes on. Ultimately, it’s a great way to lure people into the never-ending video feed world and it’s a genius move.
But it does come at a cost.
While this move is great and all, there is one downside to it – it hurts the creator. See, once you’ve downloaded the video and it goes viral somewhere, such as Twitter, it won’t be monetized at all since the video is no longer on TikTok and just exists as a ‘video file.’ In short, while it’s a massive thumbs-up for the consumer, it’s bad for the creator itself. This is one of the reasons why YouTube simply does not allow videos to be downloaded and saved to the device completely. An ad needs to be served and money needs to be made by the social media company as well. It’s as simple as that.
Nonetheless, it’s a fantastic feature on the consumer end if you simply want to save the video for eternity on your device so you can view it later or just share it with someone.
